Deadline: February 1, 2024
Calling all young changemakers!
The National Geographic Society and Paul G. Allen Family Foundation have announced the opening of the 2024 Slingshot Challenge which works to inspire more youth to tackle the planet’s environmental issues.
No problem is unsolvable and great ideas come from ALL places. This is why this initiative calls for concepts from the next generation of problem-solvers, advocates, and stewards of the planet.
Successful applicants stand a chance of receiving up to $10,000 in funding.
How to enter
To participate in the challenge, you must perform the following tasks:
- Create a one-minute video outlining an innovative solution to an environmental issue you’re passionate about
- The videos must address one of the challenge’s five topic areas: protect nature, clean the air, restore the ocean, reduce waste, and address climate change.
Participants may choose to work individually or as a team of up to six members, but projects will be expected to involve collaboration with peers, stakeholders, and/or local communities.
*If you’re under 18, you’ll need a guardian’s email and their consent to participate in this youth environmental program.
