Social Media Manager tasks include:

  • Manage daily social media content distribution across Facebook and Twitter and act as a liaison between Social and Editorial teams
  • Collaborate with the social team to develop and evolve content strategies for social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and beyond
  • Help manage the day-to-day activity across select social platforms
  • Survey the news and trends to identify coverage opportunities for Lonely Planet’s social, editorial and video teams — the more creative the approach, the better
  • Work cross-functionally with internal business units and partners to develop and execute content and engagement strategies on Lonely Planet’s social channels
  • Help manage business analytics and reporting for owned social channels
  • Focus on optimizing current channels based on testing and iterating
  • Assist with management of and content creation for Lonely Planet Travelers Facebook Group as time allows

This position has openings in New York, NY, USA.


Social Producer tasks include:

  • Collaborate with the social team to develop and evolve content strategies for social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and beyond
  • Help scale production efforts across platforms: writing copy and scripts, owning Reels/TikTok production from concept to execution
  • Pitch Reels series, identify potential hosts, and, with support from the larger social team, make a splash
  • Help manage the day-to-day activity on those platforms
  • Help design social media posts using existing templates to promote series across platforms
  • Give feedback on the performance of said templates and ways they could improve
  • Survey the news and trends to identify coverage opportunities for Lonely Planet’s social, editorial and video teams — the more creative the approach, the better
  • Engage directly with audiences across all social channels to answer reader questions and provide insightful advice
