United Nations internship with remote work for college students and recent graduates

The U.S. Climate Alliance is a bipartisan coalition of governors securing America’s net-zero future by advancing state-led, high-impact climate action.
The U.S. Climate Alliance Secretariat is seeking an intern ready to contribute to its research, policy development, peer-to-peer learning, and coordination work.
The intern will respond to specific project-level needs such as tracking policy progress and implementation, drafting policy briefing papers, and providing general coordination and program support.
This role is an opportunity to gain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the types of policies and actions U.S. states are advancing to drive down GHG emissions across the economy.
This is a paid opportunity and offers an hourly rate of $17 per hour for individuals currently enrolled in or recently graduated from (within 8 months of graduation) an associate degree or bachelor’s degree program; and $20/hour for individuals currently enrolled in a graduate program.
This position is remote.
What you'll do
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Tracking and data entry of ongoing climate actions and policies into the Alliance’s Policy Database as needed
- Providing input into Alliance-wide and sector-specific strategic plans, as well as identifying technical support resources.
- Working with team members to prepare materials that support major Alliance meetings and workshops.
- Supporting the Alliance in IRA implementation by researching trends and challenges in state implementation and communicating them to partners.
- Support in tracking federal funding opportunities and drafting weekly and quarterly newsletters to states.

- Strong research skills, and ability to write and communicate clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated interest and experience in state climate policy and coalition building.
- Interest in innovative ways to communicate technically complex materials.
- Be responsible, flexible, collaborative, hard‐working, and committed to the mission of the U.S. Climate Alliance.
- Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
