Every year, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports over 100,000 German and international students and researchers around the globe.
DAAD scholarships are aimed primarily at graduates, doctoral students, and postdocs.
They are awarded for study and research visits to universities and non-university research institutions in Germany. In some programs, internships are also funded.
The DAAD scholarship duration is 12 to 24 months (depending on the particular institution) for Masters and 42 months for Ph.D.
DAAD Scholarship benefits
Successful applicants will receive monthly payments of €861 for graduate students. For doctoral candidates, they will receive €1,200.
Additionally, all winners receive a flat-rate travel allowance.
Winners can also receive other benefits such as payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance, a travel allowance, research allowances, family benefits, funds for language courses, and/or more.
In order to apply, applications must be submitted directly to the respective course/institution. Deadlines vary based on the course, but tend to fall between August and November.
