Applications for FUTI Scholarships are welcome, assuming the programs will run. For 2022, programs with online attendance without physically going to the destination university are no longer eligible for FUTI Scholarships. Should there be any changes to this policy due to Covid-19, this information will be posted on this page.

Friends of the University of Tokyo Inc offers several scholarships to students at U.S. universities wanting to pursue short-term study programs at the University of Tokyo.

Successful applicants are given $3000-4000 including a room charge to participate in the program of their choice.

Programs include IARU courses at:

University of Tokyo

Internship at School of Sciences at Hongo, Tokyo

Engineering Summer Education Program Internship

and other summer programs and internships at the University of Tokyo found independently. Each program involves doing research in a STEM field.
