2-year programme for visual artists
Deadline: March 1, 2021
Visual artists can apply to complete a working period at De Ateliers. A working period at De Ateliers lasts two years. A working year runs from September 1st until August 31st. During these two years, participants work in a private studio in De Ateliers’ monumental building in central Amsterdam. Central to De Ateliers’ institutional programme are weekly individual studio visits by tutor artists. De Ateliers collaborates with a variety of cultural and other institutions in Amsterdam and beyond, offering participants access to knowledge and productional support structures in different areas of specialized expertise. During the working year, De Ateliers organizes public activities like exhibitions, performances, screenings and talks.
Each De Ateliers participant receives a yearly stipend. The stipend for the working year 2019-2020 was €13.800 and provides a basis towards covering living expenses. In addition to the stipend, for the 2020-2023 period, De Ateliers is able to offer a yearly production grant of €2.000 to each participant. De Ateliers has six rent-controlled apartments with a total of nineteen rooms available in Amsterdam. The average rent per room is € 350 – € 400 per month, which is considered to be very affordable in the Amsterdam housing market. When renting a room from De Ateliers, the rent is deducted from the stipend.
