Ascend West Virginia is a talent attraction program for remote workers seeking a high-quality lifestyle in the mountains of West Virginia.
It was born with the mission of sharing West Virginia’s unbeatable quality of life with remote workers and currently offers three relocation cities.
Whether you’re looking for a lively college-town vibe in the Morgantown Area, quaint small-town culture in the gorgeous Greenbrier Valley, or historic charm in the Eastern Panhandle, there is something for everyone!
In order to be eligible for the program, applicants must:
- Either currently work remotely or have the ability to work remotely full-time at a business based outside of West Virginia
- Provide evidence of employment and income
- Have the ability to relocate within 6 months of acceptance
- Be 18 years or older
- Reside full-time outside of West Virginia and be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
Each winner of the Ascend West Virginia grant will receive $12,000 to move, a free outdoor recreation package, free co-working space, and access to community-building events.
The $12,000 will be paid out over the course of two years, with the first $10,000 paid out over your first year in West Virginia through monthly installments and the last $2,000 being paid out at the end of your second year in West Virginia.
Winners are responsible for any taxes on payments and stop receiving payments if they move out before the end of the two years.
